Dr. Stoll is a pediatric rheumatologist who earned his MD and PhD at Upstate Medical University (Syracuse, NY) in 2001, followed by completion of residency in pediatrics at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center in 2004 and fellowship in pediatric rheumatology at the Children’s Hospital Boston in 2007. He has been at the University of Alabama at Birmingham since 2011. During his fellowship, Dr. Stoll developed an interest in the clinical epidemiology of spondyloarthritis, and he subsequently turned his attention to the links between spondyloarthritis and inflammatory bowel disease. For the last ten years, his focus has been on the role of the intestinal microbiota in the pathogenesis of spondyloarthritis. He has also studied the diagnosis and treatment of temporomandibular joint arthritis in children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis.
